Creating groups for courses

One thing to keep in mind courses operate very, very closely to heartbeat groups. When we create a course for your community, what we're doing is we're making a group with the name of the course, the same name of the course as the same name of the group.

Creating sub-groups for cohort-based courses

When we create cohorts for the course, we're creating subgroups under the main header group. In order to reference people and give them access to the group or to give them access to the course, all you need to do is give them access to the group. As soon as they have access to either the parent group or one of the cohort groups, they'll have access to all of the information within the course.

Add or remove members

To add or remove members from courses, you can go to the 'Manage Members' page. From there, you can easily move members from a cohort into another group or parent group. Another way to add members to a group is to create a joinable group. You can set a joinable group and create a join embed in any threads. Finally, the last main way to join a course is through Zapier. You can use groups triggers, such as add to group, remove from group, or on group join, to give people access to courses.
